Feels Like Rubber

by Ron Kurtus (30 Nov 71)

(The village idiot is standing on the corner alone. He is staring at his fingers as he is rolling a small object between them. He is vacously mumbling a phrase to himself, over and over.)

IDIOT: (Mumbling) Feels like rubber... feels like rubber...etc.

(A man passes by the idiot, but then his curiousity overpowers him and he returns to find out what is going on. He stands, watching the idiot for a while and then speaks.)

MAN: Hey boy. What do ya got there?

IDIOT: Feels like rubber.

MAN: Let me see that.

(Idiot hands him the object, and the man rubs it between his fingers.)

MAN: You're right. It does feel like rubber. Where'd ya get it?

IDIOT: From my nose.

END.
